Deliver UK
Deliver UK
Deliver UK
- is an ongoing campaign designed to ensure that policy makers:
• Recognise the contribution that road haulage makes to the UK economy and
• Make a clear distinction between the treatment of trucks and cars in all areas of public policy.
Deliver UK
- will be managed by the Road Haulage Association who will:
• Commission external support to ensure that the campaign is operated in as effective a way as possible
• Mobilise its members to ensure that their messages are effectively communicated to decision makers and those who influence them.
Deliver UK
- will become an integral part of every aspect of RHA’s policy work. Issues that will be addressed include, but are not limited to:
• Taxation and the need to ensure that a mechanism that allows trucks to be taxed in a different way to cars, in relation to Vehicle Excise Duty, Fuel Duty and any future Road Charging schemes.
• Crime and the requirement to ensure that accurate and reliable records of truck crime are kept, thus allowing the industry to campaign for Truck Crime to be treated with the seriousness that it deserves.
• Parking Facilities and the fact that drivers should be provided with suitableand sufficient locations to cater for the needs of the industry and the demands of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time legislation.
• Road Space and the fact that goods vehicles making deliveries provide an essential service to the economic activity of the UK’s towns and cities, and should therefore be given the same priority as buses.
• Modal Choice and the very different criteria that apply to individuals’ decisions about travel compared to the issues that directly affect how commercial and industrial organisations decide how to move freight.
