RHA Leaders Forum tackles the practical realities of Net Zero

Decarbonising road transport isn’t theoretical. It’s operational, complex, and happening now.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Road Haulage Association (RHA) Leaders Forum at the Royal Overseas League. It was a valuable opportunity to bring together senior leaders from across road freight, coach, and van operations, alongside other trade associations and key agencies, for a frank and practical discussion about the path to Net Zero.

The conversation focused squarely on the realities operators face — the barriers to decarbonising fleets today, what solutions are workable now and what still requires time, investment, and infrastructure to mature. We also explored the role of interim technologies, the pace of policy development, and where greater collaboration between industry and institutions can unlock progress.

A particular thank you to our panel contributors for sharing their insights and experience: Toby Poston (BVRLA), Mike Hawes (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Andrew Scott (VOLTEMPO), Anthony Tattersall (Darcica Logistics Limited), Lamech S. (Logistics UK ), Alex Knowles (Knowles Logistics), Hayleigh Russell (Flix), Michael Cundy (Schenk UK), Nick Graham, David Emslie (Swain Group), Nick Allen (Low Carbon Impact), Paul Holland (Corpay), Tom Greenshields (HydraB), Jack Millington (Renault Trucks UK), and Lisa Witty (National Gas Services).

And thank you to Corpay for sponsoring the event and supporting an important discussion for the sector.

The insights shared will directly inform RHA’s ongoing policy and advocacy work, ensuring it reflects the lived experience of operators as the industry navigates the transition.
