Aimed at those drivers who have responsibility for the safe operation of your delivery vans, works vans, 4 X 4 fleet or any other vehicle falling into the LCV category.
Drivers will learn a range of skills aimed at improving fuel economy, reduce the chance of collision and improve your company Operational Road Risk Strategy. Courses are delivered in three ranges to meet the needs of each driver and are carried out on a two to one training ratio. All courses start with an initial assessment of the learner’s present skills and move on to cover the following elements:
- Pre use checks and on road compliance
- Space management
- Correct use of gears, brakes
- Anticipation and forward thinking
- Fuel economy
- The cost of a minor collision
- Road safety awareness
LCV Defensive Driving Beginners Course
Course Length: 2 Day
Prerequisite: Must hold a full and unrestricted category B (car) licence.
Suitable for drivers new to LCV’s this course aims to upgrade the driver’s skill set and reduce the overall risk to the business and to other road users. This course is an essential element planned at reducing insurance premiums for new drivers in the workplace and reducing the overall risk of costly bumps, scrapes and prangs associated with new drivers.

LCV Defensive Driving Intermediate Course
Course Length: 1 ½ Days
Prerequisite: Must hold a full and unrestricted category B (car) licence for a minimum of 4 years.
Suitable for those who have completed the beginner course or for drivers who have been driving for a number of years but who may have been identified as more likely to have collisions, higher fuel economy or other undesirable road habits that include the risks associated with driving for work.

LCV Defensive Driving Advanced Course
Course Length: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Must hold a full and unrestricted category B (car) licence for a minimum of 8 years.
Suitable for drivers who have a good overall driver record or have completed the Intermediate Course and who want to brush up their skills. This course focusses on getting the maximum safe performance of the vehicle whilst reducing the overall fuel usage. Those successfully completing this course may be considered for the RHA LCV Assessor Course.
