All drivers, new and existing, must undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure they can continue to drive commercially. The most cost-effective way to do this is by attending one day every year for the five-year block.

Our courses have been designed by drivers for drivers and consider all of the everyday aspects that driving in todays workplace brings about, Passenger or Commercial vehicle we will have a course to suit.

 

DCPC courses at your workplace

Course Length: 1 Day 
Course Content: A choice of off the shelf modules or build for you.

We can then help you complete your training around your busy schedule and help you make the most appropriate course selection to give the maximum return on the training budget.

There is a wide range of training modules that can be delivered as off the peg or tailored solutions to suit your needs. Driver CPC Training courses can generally be delivered at your site for up to 20 delegates, depending on the course choice and size of the training space. Let us design a course to suit you which gives your staff the training they need the way you want it without the onward cost of employing internal trainers or travel. Some of the subjects we have included for our clients over the past ten years have included dangerous goods awareness, food hygiene and awareness, practical loading, vehicle specific updates and new equipment introduction.

Wellness on Wheels – Protecting the Food Supply Chain

This course is designed to address all areas of driver wellbeing in the workplace, including the effects of fatigue on driver performance caused by alcohol, drugs, and obstructive sleep apnoea. It demonstrates how health is affected by poor rest breaks and what practical steps can be taken to improve conditions and practices.

The course will also provide a reminder of the vulnerability of other road users and culminate in the delivery of a health and hygiene session designed to meet the global standards set out by the British Retail Consortium for businesses involved in the storage and transport of foodstuffs.

For businesses that require certification of their drivers to meet the BRC Standard or for those who wish further certification, a separate test is offered after the completion of the DCPC course.

 

Advanced Practical Walk Around Checks for Drivers

This course is designed to build on the experience and knowledge of the driver and provide an advanced level of understanding on the vehicle check system its importance in the compliance regime with particular emphasis on the maintenance of tyres and wheels and the checking of them using calibrated tools.

By the end of this course trainees will have developed an understanding of the following elements: 

  • How the walk-around check affects the company’s operator licence
  • What powers the authorities have in relation to vehicle condition
  • What preventative measures are in place to ensure vehicle condition is maintained?
  • The importance of good tyre management and wheel security
  • How to set up, use, and record a wheel torque check
  • The different Legislation relating to the condition of the vehicle and its various components with regards to road safety

Delivering Safely – Safe and Secure

This course has been designed to build into the training, experience and knowledge already gained during the drivers career an advanced level of understanding on the importance of health and safety in the workplace. Drivers will be instructed on the process of risk assessment, load restraint equipment checks, and the safe use of Load handling equipment.

Every day in the UK people are injured in the workplace needlessly because an appropriate risk assessment of the task being conducted was not completed. This is particularly important where drivers are working off-site and at customers premises. The two distinct areas where this training will improve the safety culture within the business are:

  • The compilation of driver related risk assessments
  • The operation of both company and client owned load handling equipment

Public Driver CPC Courses

As a professional driver, you need to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC training every 5 years. RHA has a diary of courses that are all JAUPT approved for DCPC and where appropriate are suitable for both HGV and PCV drivers. The courses are Ideal for keeping your skills up to date and enable you to stay compliant with many regulations that relate to your job.
