The driver shortage is one of the biggest issues facing road transport across the world threatening the movement of people and goods. The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is urgently calling for views on the issue.
As the RHA is a member association of the IRU, we are urging members to respond to the call and give their feedback on the issue.
The findings will be critical to shape their collective action and political lobbying through gaining an understanding of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on driver shortage.

Analysis
Central to IRU’s efforts on driver shortage has been identifying and analysing data on the root causes of the problem.
The IRU has been conducting annual calls for information on the situation since October 2018 in order to monitor the size of the shortage, investigate the principle causes and identify solutions.
Based on the results, they have produced reports with detailed analyses of the situation in a range of countries that has been growing every year – and the aim is to expand further.
