Yesterday we met with Liz Kimmins MLA, Northern Ireland's Minister for Infrastructure, to discuss the mounting pressures facing our sector. Also joining the meeting were Northern Ireland Executive officials responsible for decarbonisation, security of supply, and Taxi, Bus & Freight policy.
The conversation centred on the impact of rising fuel prices on HGV, Coach and Van operators in Northern Ireland, the knock-on inflationary impact on households and the recent protests. My colleagues Declan Pang and Alastair Gunn set out the cost pressures our members are absorbing and the support we've been calling on government at all levels to deliver.
We briefed the Minister on our own ongoing engagement with the UK Government on these issues. We also updated those present on our continued calls for targeted support such as an Essential User Fuel Rebate to ease the burden on operators who are crucial to supply chains in Northern Ireland and beyond.
We look forward to further dialogue with the Minister and with the wider Northern Ireland Executive.
